1999

My art focus for the next couple of years was around my computer. Those were the heydays of the internet and computer graphics. For me, exiting days, full of possibilities; a new country – a new beginning.  An old sparkle rekindled and beside with CG, I started working with music again – something I had done quite a bit as a teen but now with PC DAW’s I really got into composing and integrating music and sounds into my art.

Proposal for an open call work in public space for the town Mosfellsbær in Iceland. “Volcanic Island” The proposal was for a concrete sculpture covered with Icelandic lava tiles. The top a solid glass representing both glacier ice and a volcanic fire. The top piece would emit light at night depicting volcanic fire. A steel pipe goes through the center of the piece that exudes steam from the top from thermal water representing thermal activities a vital characteristic for Iceland and essential energy source for Icelandic local communities. The pyramid shape for its esoteric values and sturdiness as a basic natural form. This would have been a preeminent iconic monument for the town and a tourist attraction; Mosfellsbær’s Eifel tower. The proposal was rejected. Sketch made in Bryce 3D software. 1999
