We all woke up with the prime minister´s words: “And God bless Iceland”. The world experienced the biggest financial crash in decades and the Icelandic economy was in ruins. I went for days in front of the parliament building to protest. It was a political performance that lasted weeks. Alongside that I was renovating my house I just bought; times were gloomy indeed. But in a way the synchronicity of the societal crash and my own were stunning and revelatory and – as always – a crumble heralds a new beginning.
