In the fall of 1988 I was accepted into the Icelandic Art- and Handcraft School (Myndlista- og Handíðaskóla Íslands). Unfortunately, not many works survive from this period. A month before school start my then wife gave birth to a healthy son. The marriage did not last past two years and had a turbulent end. As a young person I was always dedicated in becoming an artist, but at the start of my adult life I began to have doubts. Was I to choose the uncertain path of an artist or attain a higher education with more certainty of a secure income? This painting is made In Memoriam of the 1989 Tiananmen Square Incident.
